I am going to try and be quick! It's a sunny and hot day in Lisbon but I chose to write this to you guys because the subject has been going round in my head for a couple of days since I heard a "piece" on the National RTP, Portuguese main News on Televison (twice) that next year, in 2011, there is going to be a "Census" (that's what they call it) regarding every citizen of Portugal "sexual orientation". WOW!
I wouldn't have believed this story if they told me about it unless I heard it with my own ears.
Basically, they (Government) want to take our "freedom" rights instead of giving us more. The point is this: If I wish to "come out" and say I am a "Gay guy" or a "Lesbian woman" I have that freedom and I should not be persecuted and chased or discriminated for it. But if I wish to keep my sexual tendencies to myself, I am "free" to do so! Why on earth have we now to disclose who "turns us on" or whom we have sex with to a "Government authority" so that they can start a "data base" of who is or isn't gay or otherwise! This is attrocious! Plus, there is a high "fine" to pay if one does not participate in this "Census". Only in PORTUGAL! I wonder if the British would entertain this. Is it a EU directive? No idea! The fact that it is not the 1st of April (fool's joke) right now and that the newsperson sounded as serious as one can be, is disconcerting!
Now to why I am "upset" (or was, this morning, as I ranted to my wife about this fact).
OK, as you know I am hetero (whatever that means, like, I like the opposite sex, full stop and men would not turn me on at all, other than wishing to have a body like Cristiano Ronaldo's - my own body like the one he's got, not his body to play with.
But, what will they ask us? Do we like women's pictures, fleshy, fat, slim, do we have sex with a woman or a man, do we live in the same home with a man or a woman or both? This is utterly ridiculous. What if I am "a-sexual"? I mean, like that play in the 1970's in London's West End "No Sex Please, We'rer British", and I don't have sex? Maybe priests and monks who only think of spirituality won't be made to reply but I doubt it, as it is "compulsory"!
I am thinking of saying I am gay or a Taoist who does Kundalini sexual sublimation but if they want to know, why not let them search the internet and find what I have written about it. Great idea! Why would I have to say that I am hetero, if, supposing, I don't have sex at all with other human beings! Does thinking make you hetero or gay/lesbian? Freedom means I keep my thoughts to myself or I express them if I wish to do so, freely and from my own initiative not like in the "Inquisition" days in Iberia.
Last Saturday, there was a gay & lesbian Festas night right here in Lisboa and that's great, why shouldn't there be? But to have a forced registration of ideals is too much. I like lesbians (that's hot) and I don't mind gay men (as long as they keep it in their pants) but will I be discriminated as a "hetero" by the (what Edward Ditmars) called "traitors" and looked upon as a strange person if I am not bi-sexual or homosexual? Not nice to be classified!
Basically, I could lie and Blog about it before the date, so that everyone does the same and "screw" the system. The systems will colapse anyway by 2012, as the Mayas predicted but that is a wait and see situation. Just don't make me participate in something that wastes the tax payers money (yes, I am sure it's not free to process all that informmation) while old properties in Lisbon and Porto are falling to bits and people needs homes to rent or buy. Give me part of that money and I will sort my roof into a solar/eco haven. That's what they don't want, that we become independent from their energy sources, like oil and stuff, which is poluting the Earth. Alternative energies are being denied their developement because of BIG BUcks, the same as people are pumped full of drugs by the MEDCON, Big Pharma!

OK, I think I tried to make my point: Respect others like you want to be respected and accept that some people may want their right to privacy and to their beliefs to themselves! Me, if they insist, like, they can search ParisHilton dot com and find out if I like Paris's legs or Katy Perry's boobs or Madonna's body. By the way: I like Freddy Mercury in that Queen video "I Want To Break Free", so does that make me a "gay"? Can't even think nowadays. Big Brother!

Portugal is very good for it's sunshine but a lot of these "legislators" must be "perverts", to want to find out what everyone likes sexually!
Enough said, maybe they will want to shut me down for speaking freely too!??
The PIDE (state Police) days from the Salazar (Portuguese dictator) regime are over from and the Gestapo is gone too, I think!
